Client / Project Background:

Amala Ayurvedic Hospital is a part of Amala Hospital and Research Centre that was established in 1978 as non-profit, charitable institution aimed at treatment and management of Cancer in Central Kerala. Amala Ayurvedic Hospital has a bed-strength of nearly eighty beds. Treatment is given for all general diseases including rheumatic disorders, peptic ulcer, psoriasis etc. Special treatments like Dhara, Massage, and Navarakizhi etc. are given for patients who have complaints of Hemiplegia, Paraplegia, Facial Paralysis, Arthritis etc. Amala Ayurvedic Hospital and Research Centre got “OLIVE LEAF” accreditation by the Government of Kerala.

Isos Services

Isos Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd is involved in supporting the Amala Ayurvedic Hospital in the NABH accreditation process. The scope of work includes:

  • Self-Assessment against NABH Accreditation Standards, Gap Analysis Report and Action Planning
  • Standardization and Documentation of Clinical, Administrative and Support Systems & Processes
  • Implementation Support, Internal Audits and Development of overall QMS Structure

Key Challenges / Innovations

  • At 85 beds, Amala was the first Ayurveda hospital with more than fifty beds to achieve accreditation at the point of its accreditation award.
  • The Medication Management process at Amala included its own full-fledged medicime manufacturing unit which catered to all the medications required by the hospital
  • To change the traditional administration and management methods already in practice
  • Resistance of doctors, nurses and therapist to standardised protocols.
